Six children among 14 killed in road accident in Uttar Pradesh

Fourteen people were killed in Uttar Pradesh's Pratapgarh after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed collided with a stationary truck on Thursday night, ANI UP reported. Six children were among those killed. The accident happened on Prayagraj-Lucknow highway under the limits of the Manikpur police station.
The road accident took place late Thursday night when the victims were returning from a wedding function in the Nawabganj area of Pratapgarh, PTI reported quoting Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Awanish Awasthi.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the accident, ANI UP reported quoting the CM's office. He has directed senior officials to reach the spot and provide all possible help to victims.
He has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakhs each to next of the kin of the deceased in the accident, ANI UP reported.
