Medininagar, Sep 17 (PTI) Two farmers were killed and seven others injured in lightning strike in Jharkhand's Palamu district on Friday, police said.

A group of farmers, working in the field, took shelter under a tree in Shivabigha village in Hussainabad police station area as heavy rains started, they said.

While waiting under the tree, lightning struck them, police said.

Nine people were injured and when taken to the sub-divisional hospital at Hussainabad, two were declared dead, they said.

The rest were undergoing treatment there, officer-in-charge of Hussainabad police station Ajay Kumar said.

Later, one person was shifted to a hospital in Medininagar as his condition deteriorated, he said.
