Faf du Plessis succeeded Virat Kohli as Royal Challengers Bangalore’s captain after the former stepped down after last season’s IPL. He has led the franchise since 2013. The two share a friendly relationship, with mutual respect, on and off the field.
Virat Kohli, in an interview with comedian Danish Sait, RCB’s Mr Nags, on their Insider show, revealed that Du Plessis is the boss on the field.

“Me and Faf got along really well even before we played together this season. He was a captain of South Africa for a while. Faf is a guy who is very sure of himself and he has full authority,” Kohli said.
Faf du Plessis was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a whopping Rs 7 crore. He has also captained South Africa’s national team in the past.

Talking about their relationship, Kohli added that Du Plessis sometimes declines his suggestions.
“Sometimes I mention him things on field and he says ‘No, I don’t want to do that,’ which I respect a lot because that obviously makes you gain respect for someone you are playing under,” he added.
