Who was Jeffrey ‘JV’ Vandergrift?

Vandergrift hosted his radio show on the same day he vanished. Before his disappearance, he spoke candidly to WiLD 94.9 listeners about suffering from Lyme disease. “The body and the pain and all that stuff, I can handle. What it’s doing to my brain, I could never describe to you,” JV said.

He described “strange surges in my head,” brain fog, anxiety, and depression, in a blog post titled, ‘JV’s Journey.’ “The stuff I’ve been going through in my brain that they’re trying to figure out. Ugh,” he said during what would be his final show.

Vandergrift’s family has been notified. Natasha Yi, his wife and “The JV Show” co-host, wrote on March 1: “I tell you this with incredible pain and sadness in my heart. My heart is utterly broken. We are incredibly appreciative for the SFPD’s ongoing efforts in locating JV and they have asked us to keep the details to immediate family only. I know how painful this is for you to hear — please know that I have you in my thoughts,” she captioned the emotional update.”

He also changed his Twitter location to “the other side” before dropping off the grid.
