According to the most recent Mason-Dixon poll, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has a slight advantage over fellow former President Donald Trump among those expected to run in the 2024 presidential election.

Trump, who relocated to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach County after leaving office, trails DeSantis by 44% to 39% according to the poll.

In the most recent polling, DeSantis’ job approval rating increased to 59% from 55% in September 2022. 39% of those polled disapproved of him, with 2% stating they weren’t sure.

DeSantis received about 90% of Republican respondents who approved of him, compared to only 24% of Democratic respondents. In the seven southeast municipalities of the state, which include Broward and Miami-Dade, about 49% of respondents disapproved of DeSantis. Only 48% of those polled in the region approved of DeSantis, making it the only area in the state where he had a greater disapproval percentage.

Biden’s disapproval rating increased to 60% in Florida, up 5% from February 2022, despite the fact that he lost the state to Trump in the 2020 election. However, only 50% of those polled gave Trump a positive rating.

The poll’s error range was approximately 4% points. Trump declared his candidacy in November, while DeSantis has not officially stated whether he will be running in the 2024 election.

Meanwhile, Trump, meanwhile, entered a not guilty plea in Manhattan criminal court on Tuesday afternoon to 34 felony charges of falsifying business documents.

During a historic and first-ever court appearance on Tuesday, Trump surrendered and was put under custody before being charged and hearing the allegations against him for the first time. Although the hearing was routine, the case is now likely to affect Trump’s bid for president in 2024 as he defends himself both in court and in public.

The 2016 election was allegedly tainted by a hush money plan in which payments were made to women who claimed to have had extramarital affairs with Trump, according to the prosecution. He has refuted the relationships.

Immediately following his arraignment, Trump took a flight return to Florida. Trump hosted a gathering with his supporters on Tuesday night at his Mar-a-Lago resort, where he presented a public defense of the charges and gave a sneak peek at his political strategy should he decide to run for president again in 2024.
