John Beasley, a beloved character actor who portrayed Barton Bellentine, the father of Cedric the Entertainer’s character, in the TV Land comedy The Soul Man, as well as school bus driver Irv Harper on The WB drama Everwood, passed away on Tuesday. He was 79 years old at the time of his death.

According to his son Tyrone Beasley, John passed away at an Omaha, Nebraska, hospital, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Malik, the grandson of Beasley, plays basketball professionally.

Who is Malik Beasley?

Malik Beasley is a professional basketball player. He was moved from the Utah Jazz midseason and is now playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. He appeared in 55 games for the Jazz, starting 13 of them.

In a few brief minutes, the NBA veteran assisted the Lakers in beating the Memphis Grizzlies in the opening round. In the second round against the Golden State Warriors, Beasley has found it difficult to get on the floor.

Malik Beasley played collegiate basketball at Florida State. Before joining the NBA, he competed for one season. He was selected for the All-Freshman team of the Atlantic Coast Conference. In the one season he spent with the Seminoles, he scored 15.6 points and grabbed 5.3 rebounds per game.

The veteran of seven seasons is born with a basketball gene. Michael Beasley, his father, played basketball professionally. He performed all over Latin America, including Chile, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. His mother’s name is Deena.
