Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey is set to miss the start of the regular NFL season due to a knee injury he sustained during training camp.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Ramsey will undergo knee surgery, and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero added that he could be out for six to eight weeks. There’s a possibility that doctors might need to decide whether to remove or repair his meniscus, which could result in an even longer recovery.

The injury occurred on the second day of training camp when Ramsey collided with wide receiver Tyreek Hill during an 11-on-11 session. He grabbed his left knee in pain and had to be carted off the field. The Dolphins acquired Ramsey in a significant trade with the Los Angeles Rams in March, but now his debut with the team is on hold due to the injury.

Ramsey, a six-time Pro Bowler, was crucial in the Rams’ Super Bowl LVI win. However, he faced criticism about his performance last season, to which he confidently responded that people should watch his game film. The Dolphins had high hopes for Ramsey’s addition to their defense, and they will have to wait for his return to the field.

Jalen Ramsey confidently defended his performance at a news conference in Miami, challenging the perception of being past his prime and highlighting his on-field success. He emphasized that success comes with good play and the respect of peers and media.

Ramsey remains optimistic about his recovery and tweeted that he will come back stronger than ever. The Dolphins’ head coach, Mike McDaniel, is expected to address the situation with reporters before the team’s next practice.
