Arshad Nadeem was Pakistan’s representation in the final round of men’s javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics.
Nadeem secured a spot in the final round after making a mark in the qualification rounds, making an impressive throw of 85.16 meters.
Nadeem, who has previously engaged himself in multiple sports, was born on January 2, 1997. According to reports from Pakistani media, he dabbed in sports like football, badminton and athletics.

However, Nadeem took up cricket in his teen years and soon started playing at the district level.
Nadeem, who is now 24 years old, later moved towards javelin throw in 2015 and has not looked back ever since, according to data available on the Tokyo Olympics website. He said, “I was introduced to javelin, and ever since I have stopped following cricket.”

Nadeem trained at the High-Performance Training Centre of the International Association of Athletics Federations in 2016 and later went on to participate in prominent sporting competitions like the World Athletics Championship, Asian Games and two editions of Asian Championships.
At the 2018 Asian Games, which were held in Indonesia, Nadeem finished third after throwing the stick at a distance of 80.75 meters and secured a bronze medal for Pakistan.
Nadeem missed an Olympic medal on Saturday by a thin margin. The 24-year-old athlete covered a distance of 84.62 meters and finished third. India’s Neeraj Chopra secured India’s first gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in the same match beating Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch and Vitezslav Vesely.
