“San Francisco Bay Area’s renowned competitive eater Joey Chestnut, who is also informally known as “Jaws”, is set to lead the way to claim his 14th Mustard Belt title as plans to eat as many hot dogs as he can. After last year’s competition being held at a minimum capacity at a private venue with only the presence of media due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year the competition will be held with the pre-pandemic audience, according to Major League Eating. Chestnut rose through the ranks in Major League Eating standings after breaking his own record last year and devouring 75 hot dogs in a time frame of 10 minutes, reported NBC. During the pandemic, Chestnut made sure he did not lose touch with his career in competitive eating. In March 2020, he celebrated a “cheat day” and ate 32 Big Mac burgers from McDonald’s in just over 38 minutes. This cheat day of Chestnut broke yet another world record, reported NBC. The eating contest, which is being held at Maimonides Park baseball stadium on Sunday, will host separate competitions for both men and women.
