The 2020 results of the Swachh Survekshan initiative were announced on Thursday. The national capital of Delhi was awarded the first place in the “India’s Cleanest Capital” in the National and State capital category. Among all the capital cities that participated, Delhi was awarded the first position.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced the award.

The 2020 Swachh Survekshan award declared Madhya Pradesh’s Indore as the cleanest city of India for fourth year in a row.

Gujarat’s Surat finished second, Maharashtra’s Navi Mumbai was adjudged third among the cleanest cities.

The award of ‘The Best Ganga Town’ was given to Varanasi.

The awards were distributed in various categories like National Ranking to cities with a population between one lakh and ten lakhs.

Similarly, a national ranking was awarded to cities with a population of 10 lakhs or more.
