Paul Gosar, a lawmaker from the state of Arizona, tweeted out video containing altered graphics from an anime show in which his colleague and New York counterpart Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is seeing getting struck with a sword. The social media feud has attracted significant criticism towards the Republican politician.

Gosar, who is known to be a staunch supporter of former United States President Donald Trump, was tagged as a “creepy member I work with” and said he “shared a fantasy video of him killing me”, according to reports from Associated Press.

The New York Representative said Gosar is not likely to face any consequences as Kevn McCarthy, the Minorty Leader in the House of Representatives, “cheers him on with execuses”.

California Representative Ted Lieu, who is also a member of the Democratic party, tagged Gosar’s tweet as “sick behavior” and responded, “In any workplace in America, if a coworker made an anime video killing another coworker, that person would be fired.”

The roughly 90-second video is an altered version of a Japanese anime series, interspersed with shots of border patrol officers and migrants at the southern United States. border.

During one roughly 10-second section of the video, animated characters whose faces have been replaced with Gosar and fellow Republican Representatives. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Lauren Boebert of Colorado –both memeber of the Republican party– are seen fighting other animated characters, according to reports from Associated Press.

Twitter later attached a warning to the tweet saying “it violated the Twitter Rules about hateful conduct. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”

Gosar is among the legislators whose phone or computer records a House panel investigating the January 6 Capitol riots asked social media and telecommunications companies to preserve as they were potentially involved with efforts to “challenge, delay or interfere” with the certification or otherwise try to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
