Democratic Governor of North Carolina Roy Cooper, on Friday, announced that the state will lift all social distancing requirements and gathering limits that were put in place to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. He further announced that the relaxation will be “effective immediately”.
The announcement comes just a day after the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reviewed the mask mandate in the country.
According to the announcement made by the CDC, everyone who has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will not be required to wear a mask in most situations. Moreover, social distancing norms were also eased by the federal organisation.
The face mask requirement will remain intact for places like hospitals and medical centres, airplanes and some office settings, Washington Post reported.

The CDC wrote on Twitter that the previously instated rules would continue to persist in areas “required by federal, state, local, tribal or territorial laws, incl. local business and workplace guidance.”
