the speculation about signing Colombian footballer Luis Diaz in the ongoing

Ahead of Monday’s transfer
window deadline, Liverpool and Diaz agreed on an initial €45 million
(£37.5m/$50m), with an extra €15m (£12.5m/$17m) in performance-related add-ons.
Though the club is yet to make an official announcement about Diaz’s signing,
the player was seen signing and posing with the Liverpool jersey in Twitter posts.

Julian Ward, the soon-to-be
sporting director, headed negotiations, assisted by the outgoing Michael
Edwards, and Diaz, who is currently away with Colombia in Argentina, reportedly
signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at Anfield.
Diaz has twice played
against Liverpool this season in the Champions League for Porto, and though
Liverpool won both games comfortably, it is understood that their scouts have
been impressed by his progress.

‘Best player in Primeira Liga’
“The newspapers in
Portugal say the deal is going through, so it seems Luis Diaz, the best player
in the Portuguese league, is going to be joining Liverpool,” reported Sky
Sports.
Diaz is technically gifted
and he is bound for greater things than the Portuguese league.

“Diaz is the best
Colombian player at the moment, the best player in Portugal at the moment. He
can do anything up front despite not being a centre forward,” media reports in
Portugal stated.
“He really has
something special about him. There is no doubt in my mind that, if things go
normally, he will fit in perfectly at Liverpool.”
Blow for Tottenham
Missing out on Diaz will be
another big blow for Spurs this month, after the breakdown of the deal for
Wolves winger Adama Traore, who has returned to Barcelona on loan, reported Daily Mail.
Spurs are now working hard
on other targets ahead of Monday’s deadline. According to Sky Sports, they
are in advanced talks to sign Juventus duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo
Bentancur.

Spurs have offered Juventus
an initial loan for Kulusevski with an obligation to buy for £33m (€40m) if
they qualify for the Champions League and he plays a certain number of games.
The north London side have
also offered a fee in the region of £25m (€30m) to buy Bentancur this month
ahead of Aston Villa.
