Bulgaria

One of the most pocket-friendly destinations in Europe, Bulgaria remains largely undiscovered. Except for in summers for a cheap vacation alongside the Black Sea, there’s rarely much going on here. Montenegro regained independence in 2006. One can expect very cheap food prices as long they stick to the hearty, meaty local foods like meat-stuffed pie-like burek. You can also explore farmers markets on weekends to enjoy a quick bite or collect ingredients for a cheap meal.

The Czech Republic

The Czech Republic can be easily affordable if you travel outside the capital city of Prague. During winters (except for the second half of December, as the weeks around Christmas time are prime tourist season), January and February are the cheapest months, with March through May also come with great discounts on flights and accommodation.
