A special
Court in Mumbai heard the bail plea of actor Rhea Chakraborty and
her brother Showik. The Court will pronounce the orders on September 11.
Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau
(NCB) on Tuesday for her alleged involvement in a drug case linked to late
actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
The ‘Jalebi’
actor was produced before a local court in Mumbai after her arrest on Tuesday.
The court rejected the actor’s bail plea and sent her to judicial custody till
September 22.
After her
arrest, Rhea was taken for a medical check-up and COVID-19 test, following
which she spent the night at NCB’s office in south Mumbai and was shifted to
Byculla jail on Wednesday.

In a statement, Satish Maneshinde, Rhea’s lawyer, had
said, “Three Central Agencies hounding a single woman, just because she
was in love with a drug addict and was suffering from mental health issues for
several years under the care of 5 leading psychiatrists in Mumbai.”
She has been charged by the NCB for arranging drugs for the late 34-year-old actor. However, she herself has not been accused of using drugs.
She has alleged in her bail
application filed that during her interrogation by the NCB,
she was “coerced” into making “self-incriminating
confessions”.
Rhea also claimed that she has not committed any crime
whatsoever and has been falsely implicated in the case.
