Mythical Genesect from the Unova region first debuted in Pokemon Go in March 2020, and it later appeared wielding a Burn Drive at the start of 2021. Now, as part of the Secrets of the Jungle event, Genesect with a Douse Drive will make its premiere.

This is a major thing for Trainers who really want to catch ’em all because it’s a completely new form that hasn’t before been seen in Pokemon Go. It also introduces two new Genesect moves: Gunk Shot and a Water-type variant of Techno Blast.

In this section, we’ll go through the greatest Genesect moveset and see if it’s any good in the Pokemon Go Battle League.

Fury Cutter as a Fast Move and X-Scissor as a Charged Move is the finest movesets for Genesect wielding a Douse Drive. This is the exact moveset we would recommend for a normal Genesect, as it plays to its strengths as a great Bug-type attacker.

Because of its high energy output, Fury Cutter outperforms Metal Claw as the best Fast Move. This gives you rapid access to Genesect’s most powerful Charged Move, X-Scissor. With a cheap energy cost and STAB damage, it’s ideal for spamming.

Given Genesect’s main weakness being Fire-type attacks, it seems logical to have the Water-type Techno Blast (Douse) as your primary Charged Move to fend off any flaming counters, and X-Scissor as your backup Charged Move if you can afford it.

Having a Water-type version of Techno Blast gives Genesect a decent counter to its main weakness, Fire-types, but it doesn’t change the fact that Genesect isn’t very useful at any tier of the Go Battle League.

Genesect (Douse Drive) has the greatest chance in the Ultra League, where it can beat some of the most powerful Fairy-type and Psychic-type threats like Togekiss and Cresselia with the powerful combo of Fury Cutter and X-Scissor.
