Quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a stunning display throwing for 270 yards and a touchdown as the Tennessee Titans hammered the Kansas City Chiefs 27-3 Sunday for their fifth win in six games. This is Titans (5-2) second victory in six days over a side that has played for the AFC championship in January.

They beat Buffalo 34-31 on Monday night and then dominated the two-time defending AFC champions, Tennessee, by a score of 27-0 at halftime.

The Chiefs (3-4) have plummeted to 1-4 in the AFC after losing two of their last three games. They were also restricted to their lowest point total since a 38-3 defeat to Denver on Dec. 30, 2012.

Patrick Mahomes had never trailed by more than 27 points at halftime, and it was the Chiefs’ third-largest halftime deficit since 1991. It was the largest halftime deficit since the Chiefs trailed Pittsburgh 29-0 on Oct. 2, 2016, and only the eighth time Kansas City had trailed by 27 or more in team history.

The Titans forced three turnovers, two of which were by Mahomes, and converted them into 10 points. Two of the Titans’ four sacks came from Denico Autry.

After receiving a knee to the head on the fourth sack by Autry, Mahomes took a long time to get up. He went to the medical tent and didn’t come back, and Chad Henne was late in replacing him. He ended with 206 throwing yards and 35 running yards.

Kansas City won the coin toss and elected to postpone. Despite three-time Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan missing the game due to a concussion, the Titans never looked back.

Tannehill moved the ball around to 2020 Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Brown and seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones as the Titans played up-tempo. Derrick Henry, the NFL’s leading rusher, completed the drive with a 5-yard pass to tight end MyCole Pruitt for a 7-0 lead out of the wildcat.

On the next drive, Tannehill led the Titans 97 yards, including a 46-yard pass to Brown that was initially called an incompletion. Coach Mike Vrabel of the Titans won his appeal, and Tannehill capped the drive with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Brown, who had been sick all week.

After linebacker Rashaan Evans’ interception, Tannehill ran for a 2-yard TD and a 24-0 lead. Randy Bullock added his second field goal off Mahomes’ fumble for the 27-0 lead.
