Gettr is a social media platform created by Jason Miller, a former senior adviser, and spokesman to Donald trump. The new social media platform is officially launching on July 4 at 10:00 a.m. ET to declare independence from big technologies. Although, a beta version of the platform was launched on July 1, 2021.
Gettr has been described as a conservative social media platform, where people can go and express their political and personal beliefs, and nobody will be canceled on the site. In the Apple app store, Gettr describes itself as %u201Ca non-bias social network for people all over the world.%u201D Its design and structure look like Twitter, including the little red verification badges for people like Guo and companies like Newsmax.

The platform has billed itself as an alternative to mainstream social networks, that aims to include “fighting to cancel culture, promoting common sense, defending free speech, challenging social media monopolies, and creating a true marketplace of ideas”.
The name draws from the idea of %u201Cgetting together.%u201D However, Gettr%u2019s interface has been compared to that of Twitter. It will allow users to post longer messages with up to 777 characters. Miller added that Gettr will also allow its users to post clearer pictures and post videos that are up to three minutes long.

The users can also repost other user%u2019s posts as well as explore a feed of trending topics. Gettr is rated %u201CM%u201D in app stores, meaning it is recommended for people who are 17 and above.
