Babar Azam, the Pakistan captain, did not get to amass a significant amount of runs in the Asia Cup match against India. Azam mistimed a pull shot off Bhuvneshwar Kumar and was dismissed early in Pakistan’s innings. Mohammad Rizwan also had two close calls early in the innings but survived both.
The Pakistan skipper scored 10 runs off nine balls.

India’s decision to drop Rishabh Pant in the match and pick Dinesh Karthik in his place has also raised eyebrows. Pant has been in fine form before the Asia Cup, scoring 44 in India’s last T20I match (against West Indies).
India and Pakistan last met in the T201 World Cup where the latter managed to get their first-ever World Cup win against India. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan took the charge upon themselves and reached the target without losing a single wicket.

There are many milestones that can be achieved in this match by the Indian cricketers. While Virat Kohli is playing the 100th T20I match of his career, Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper, is 10 runs away from becoming the highest scorer in T20I cricket. The promising youngster Suryakumar Yadav is currently ranked #2 in the ICC list of T20I batters, and will be eager to seal the top spot for himself.
In their next group stage matches, both India and Pakistan will take on Hong Kong on August 31 and September 2, respectively. The Asia Cup final is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
