Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday, the royal family said. She was 96 years old and was monarch for 70 years.
The royal family, as per Forbes holds nearly $28 billion in assets. The Buckingham Palace is worth an estimated $4.9 billion, the Crown Estate holds $19.5 billion, the Duchy of Lancaster holds $748 million, Kensington Palace has an estimated worth of $630 million, and the Crown Estate Scotland holds $592 million.

Forbes estimated last year that the Queen also had about $500 million in personal assets.

The Queen’s son Prince Charles will be crowned monarch. He is 73 and will be the oldest person to ascend to Britain’s monarch. He will be known as King Charles III.
As the King of England, Charles, will also act as head of state for 14 other countries.

Charles’s wife, Camilla will be called the Queen Consort, a title that Queen Elizabeth had said she wanted her son’s wife to have when he became king. Camilla, 74, who currently holds the title of Duchess of Cornwall, is Charles’s second wife. They married amid controversy almost eight years after his first wife Princess Diana died in a car crash in 1997. Charles and Diana divorced in 1996.

Camilla was earlier married to Andrew Parker Bowles a military officer. They divorced in 1995.
King George VI’s wife Queen Elizabeth was also called Queen Consort. When her daughter Elizabeth II was crowned Queen, she came to be known as the Queen Mother.
