A small plane crashed on Smyrna Avenue in Brentwood, Tennesse on Tuesday morning, according to a tweet by Brentwood police. The death of a person has also been confirmed following the incident. Brentwood is located in Williamson County, Tennessee

Police added that the stretch on Old Smyrna Road between Jones Parkway and Edmondson Road has been closed down in response to the incident. They have not specified when it will be reopened.

The plane reportedly crashed in the roadway, halting traffic in that area.

Brentwood police have confirmed that officials with the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are on their way to the scene. They will start an investigation after which more details about what caused the crash will emerge.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, a single-engine Piper PA-32 that had only the pilot on board crashed at 7:30 in the morning. It was later revealed that the National Transportation Safety Board will arrive at the scene on Wednesday to probe the crash.

Because of the collision, there were power interruptions in the neighbourhood. In the vicinity of the collision, 1,400 customers were reported to be without power on Nashville Electric Service’s outage map. Since then, most of the electricity has been recovered.
