Toni Schuck, a Florida trooper who risked her life to stop a drunk driver from crashing into a local race path in March, 2022, will be honoured with Fox Nation’s Back the Blue award on Thursday. The fourth annual Fox Nation Patriot Awards take place on November 17.

Ashley Moody, Florida’s Attorney General since 2019, introduced the Back the Blue campaign to highlight ‘law enforcement officers, citizens and organizations taking extraordinary steps to forge positive relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve’. 

On March 6 this year, a Sarasota resident Kristen Kay Watts drove her BMW past barriers keeping traffic away from the 10K at a high speed, according to the FHP.  Schuck rammed her own patrol vehicle into it to save the runners.

She suffered minor injuries from the crash. 

“My job was to protect those people, so I was going to do whatever it was going to take to get her to stop,” Schuck told Fox & Friends on Thursday.

Who is Toni Schuck?

Toni Schuck is a North McKinley Drive, Tampa resident. She works for the Florida Highway Patrol and is a 26-year veteran. She is 46 years old. 

Schuck was awarded several honours after the incident. She was given Back the Blue award from Florida’s Attorney General, the InVest USA Heroism award, and the key to St. Pete, Florida.

“We would like to congratulate Officer Schuck for her extreme act of bravery and courage as her quick actions prevented what could have been a tragic situation.” said Marcia Ferranto, CEO of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.

“Putting her duty to protect others before herself is the oath that every officer takes when protecting the community. We are grateful for her service and happy to know that she is fully recovering at home.”
