What is Opoyi?

Opoyi is a platform that gives consumers access to high-quality, trusted content in their language of choice and in interfaces that are intuitive and simple to use.

Opoyi covers people in the news and their stories in depth, attempting to bring to its users all that information in easy to consume formats.

The Opoyi website was launched in 2020 and with a few million users is one of the fastest growing sites in its category. In English, Opoyi focuses on US news and in Hindi, on India news.

Founders

Opoyi was founded in 2019 by Rajiv Bansal and Nilanjana Bhaduri Jha. Its early investors include Ambarish Kenghe, Sayali Karanjkar and Gulshan Verma.

Rajiv Bansal:

Rajiv Bansal is currently Opoyi’s CEO and founder. He is a product and consumer focused leader with a track record of exits, successful turnarounds and delivering strong business growth by building high-chemistry teams focused on operational efficiency, customer engagement and revenue, using foundational technology such as AI and IoT.

Rajiv has headed consumer focused organisations at HT Media, Microsoft, Samsung, Logitech and several startups in media, internet services, IoT, video, music, home security, communication, virtual reality and wearables. He has also worked at the Boston Consulting Group.

Rajiv has an MBA from Kellogg, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois and Urbana-Champaign and a BE in Computer Science and Engineering from TIET Patiala.

Rajiv has several patents to his name. His areas of deep experience and interest include AI, Media and IoT. Linkedin

Nilanjana Bhaduri Jha:

Nilanjana Bhaduri Jha is currently Opoyi’s Editor in Chief and founder. She is one of India’s most experienced digital journalists, having led some of the largest digital media plays like timesofindia.com, ndtv.com, hindustantimes.com and livemint.com.

Nilanjana’s experience of over two decades in digital content leadership includes being Editor at Times Internet and Chief Content Officer at NDTV Convergence and the HT Media group. At these companies she built data-driven newsrooms and delivered high traffic and growth.

Nilanjana has reported extensively on breaking news, politics and social issues. She has also written columns on trends, lifestyle and food. Linkedin
