Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland on lockdown after shots fired nearby, no active shooter

Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland was placed under lockdown on Tuesday morning following reports of shots fired near the base.
In a tweet around 10 am, JBSA said, “Security forces and local law enforcement are currently responding to reports of gunshots heard off-base in the vicinity of Joint Base San Antonio.”
In a follow-up tweet, the base gave details on buildings that are on lockdown.
“All facilities on Truemper Road, from Valley Hi to Carswell Avenue, and on Carswell Avenue from Truemper Road to the 341st Training Squadron training complex are locked down to allow Security Forces to complete operations.”
San Antonio Police Department was investigating the shooting but confirmed that they are not considering it an active shooter incident.
“South Patrol Officers are investigating a “shots fired” call off Medina Base Road outside the gate at Lackland Air Force Base. At this time, there is not an active shooter situation. Officers are continuing to investigate but there is no threat to the public,” police said in a statement.
