Kieron Pollard, the West Indian cricketer from Trinidad, said on Tuesday that he will retire from the Indian Premier League (IPL). Pollard was a legendary all-rounder for the Mukesh Ambani-owned franchise, playing a total of 13 seasons with them since joining in 2010.

“It hasn’t been the easiest decision to make as I intend to keep playing for a few more years, but following discussions with Mumbai Indians I have decided to call time on my IPL career,” he said in a statement announcing the decision. 

The 35-year-old will now start with the franchise in his new role as batting coach.

Kieron Pollard is married to Jenna Ali, a businesswoman who owns a sports accessories brand in Tacarigua, Trinidad. According to the information available online, the name of the brand is KJ Sports and Accessories Ltd. 

Pollard and Ali met for the first time at a match between West Indies and South Africa. They were introduced to each other by their common friend Mariah. They dated for seven long years before finally getting married on August 25, 2012.

They have two children, a son called Kaiden Pollard, and a younger daughter whose name has not been made public.

As per sources on the internet, Kieron Pollard’s estimate net worth is $18 million. 

Following his retirement, Mumbai Indians expressed gratitude for his services to the franchise. 

“Kieron Pollard, one of the pillars of Mumbai Indians is hanging up his boots after playing for MI for 13 seasons but will continue with the MI family in his new role as batting coach,” the club said in a statement.

“A one-club man, adorning the Blue and Gold, Pollard signed in 2010 for Mumbai Indians and has since become one of the greatest players of this generation, picking up 5 IPL and 2 champions league trophies with Mumbai Indians,” it continued.

“Pollard is and will continue to always be at #MIForever and will use his decades of experience and skill to strengthen Mumbai Indians as a batting coach and as a player with MI Emirates.”
