Narendra Modi, a veteran politician and currently the prime minister of India, turned 72 on Saturday, September 17.
Modi, in his 35 years of political career so far, has achieved some historic milestones. He was the longest-serving chief minister of Gujarat from 2001-2014.
In his term as the leader of the country, Modi has introduced and led several socio-political initiatives.

Today, on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, here’s a look at some of his governance initiatives.
Ayushman Bharat Yojana
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is the world’s largest health programme introduced by the Indian government under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
The programme aims to provide free access to health insurance coverage for low-income earners in the country. Roughly, the bottom 50% of the country qualifies for this scheme.
Jan-Dhan Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a financial scheme of the Indian government introduced with the aim to provide financial assistance to low-income groups.
Under the scheme, over 35 crore Jan Dhan accounts were opened. Apart from insurance and pension cover the most vulnerable sections of society, the JAM trinity (Jan Dhan- Aadhaar- Mobile) has brought transparency and speed and cut out delays and corruption.
The Make in India
Launched in 2014, the Make in India initiative, introduced by the Modi government aims to make India self-reliant by facilitating investment, fostering innovation, building best-in-class manufacturing infrastructure, making it easy to do business, and enhancing skill development.
Ujjwala Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by the Modi government in 2016. As a part of the programme, the government aims to distribute over 50 million LPG connections to women of Below Poverty Line families. A budgetary allocation of Rs 80 billion was made for the scheme.
