Indian equity benchmarks managed to end higher in highly volatile trade on Friday led by gains in basic materials, oil and gas and energy stocks. The beginning was upbeat as traders took encouragement with reports which claimed that the Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) launched by the government in 2020 to provide relief to MSMEs impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic has saved 13.5 lakh firms from going bankrupt and consequently 1.5 crore jobs.

Sensex rose 142.81 points or 0.24% to 59,744.65 and the Nifty was up by 66.80 points or 0.38% to 17,812.70 in the previous session. Sensex touched high and low of 60,130.18 and 59,401.44, respectively and there were 15 stocks advancing against 15 stocks declining on the index while Nifty traded in a range of 17,905.00 and 17,704.55 and there were 32 stocks advancing against 17 stocks declining, while 1 stock remains unchanged on the index.

AYM Syntex, Dollar Industries, Salzer Electronics, KPIT Technologies, Arihant Capital Markets, Asahi India Glass, Ginni Filaments, Allied Digital Services and Gokaldas Exports have made fresh 52 weeks high on Friday.

Union Steel Minister, Ram Chandra Prasad Singh laid the foundation stone for the new 5 MTPA project at JSW Steel Vijayanagar Works integrated steel facility in Ballari, Karnataka. This brown-field expansion project is being undertaken through JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JSW Steel Ltd. The company has earmarked a capex investment of Rs 15,000 crore for this expansion and is expected to be completed by FY24.

Lumax Industries Limited, MAS Financial Services Limited, Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund – Motilal Oswal Nasdaq Q 50 ETF, One 97 Communications Limited, and SBI-ETF Gold have hit a 52-week low on Friday.

Century Plyboards has made further investments to the extent of Rs 28 crore in its wholly-owned subsidiary company, Century Panels Limited, by way of subscription to 2 crore and 80 lakh fully paid-up equity shares of face value Rs 10 each through rights issue.

JPPOWER, GTLINFRA, IDEA, YESBANK, and GMRINFRA were the most active equities on NSE.

Reliance New Energy Solar Limited (RNESL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries has acquired, by way of off-market purchase, 1,84,00,000 equity shares of the face value of Re 1 each for Rs 375 per equity share aggregating Rs 690 crore from Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Private Limited.

Welspun Investments and Commercials Limited,  Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited, Mirae Asset Mutual Fund -Mirae Asset ESG Sector Leaders ETF, North Eastern Carrying Corporation Limited, and Pilani Investment and Industries Corporation Limited were the top volume gainers.

Tata Steel Long Products has released Q3FY22 key production and delivery volumes (provisional). Crude steel production grew by 12 per cent on a YoY basis and total deliveries increased by 6 per cent YoY on the back of a continued economic recovery in 9MFY22. 

20MICRONS, 21STCENMGM, 3IINFOLTD, 63MOONS, and A2ZINFRA hit the upper price band while ANSALHSG, ARENTERP, ARSHIYA, ARTNIRMAN, and BARTRONICS hit the lower price band. There were 221 securities that hit the upper band while 32 hit the lower band on January 7, 2022.
