After one of its job ads specified that only white applicants who were born in the U.S. should be considered, an IT company named Arthur Grand Technologies landed in hot water.

This week, the job advertisement was found on the employment website Indeed. It was created by the Virginia-based firm Arthur Grand Technologies and named HTC Global and Berkshire Hathaway, the global conglomerate owned by billionaire Warren Buffet.

Where is Arthur Grand Technologies located?

Arthur Grand Technologies is based in Ashburn, Virginia.

Arthur Grand Technologies, a company established in 2012 that focuses on creating or modifying computer software and packaging, posted a position on the hiring platform Indeed in April 2023 for a business analyst in its Salesforce and insurance claims team in Dallas, Texas.

“Only Born US Citizens [White] who are local within 60 miles from Dallas, TC [Don’t share with candidates,]” the note stated.

The discovery triggered a barrage of criticism directed at the business, which repeatedly tripped over itself in its attempts to correct the situation. Following the removal of the job ad, Arthur Grand Technologies reacted to complaints on LinkedIn with a statement blaming the post on a low-level employee.

“At Arthur Grand, we do not condone or engage in any type of discrimination based on race, color, or religion. We conducted an investigation and discovered that a new junior recruiter at our firm was responsible for the offending job posting,” the company wrote.

The business asserted that it “terminated the employee” and put in place measures to make sure that similar incidents don’t happen again in later remarks.

The criticism of Arthur Grand Technologies quickly spread to Twitter, where the company’s public account was similarly inundated with criticism. But shortly after, the business decided to lock down rather than delete its Twitter account.
