Charles Feeney, also known as Chuck Feeney, was an Irish-American entrepreneur who co-founded Duty Free Shoppers, a prominent airport duty-free retail chain. He also founded The Atlantic Philanthropies, one of the biggest private charity foundations in the world.

Feeney graduated from Cornell University in 1956 after serving in the American Air Force during the Korean War. He founded Duty-Free Shoppers in 1960 with Robert Warren Miller, and it swiftly developed into a highly successful global duty-free retail company.

Feeney lived a modest lifestyle despite accumulating a considerable fortune, establishing a reputation for his modesty and commitment to philanthropy. He gave The Atlantic Philanthropies the majority of his wealth in 1984. Since then, the foundation has given out over $8 billion in grants to different causes, including human rights, education, healthcare, and peacebuilding.

Wife-

Danielle, Charles Feeney’s first wife, is of French Algerian ancestry. In October 1959, the couple wed in Paris, first in a civil ceremony at the town hall and then in a church wedding the following day.

They had one son, Patrick A. Feeney, and four daughters, Caroleen A. Feeney, Diane V. Feeney, Juliette M. Feeney-Timsit, and Leslie D. Feeney-Baily. Between 1990 and 1991, Danielle and Chuck Feeney got divorced. Helga, his second wife, was once his secretary and they wed in 1995.
