‘Efforts in education sector aimed to ensure reforms’: PM Modi

  • PM Narendra Modi addressed students at University of Mysore

Prime
Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing students at the centenary year of convocation celebrations in the University of
Mysore on Monday, said that his administration had made, “efforts in higher education aimed not only towards opening new
institutes but also to ensure governance reforms & gender, social
participation,” as per ANI.

The Prime Minister added that the National Education Policy would herald in a
sea of change in the education set-up of the country. He further said that his
administration was taking steps “to make Indian youth even more competitive,”
and is focusing on “a multidimensional approach.”

The Prime
Minister further congratulated the University of Mysore for being a major
centre of “prosperous education system of
ancient India” and added that the apex institute is a “centre of aspirations
and capacities of future India.”

Talking about
the National Education Policy, PM Modi stated, “Never before had there been such four-dimensional reforms in the country.”

He added that his government has carried out multiple reforms in several
sectors during his six year tenure.

Addressing the university
students, the PM said, ‘Education and Ordination are considered two important
stages of youth” and added that it was a age old tradition in the country.
He added when people allude to education it should not just mean securing a degree,
he added that  students should take
“a new pledge for a new type of education.”

He stated
that his administration had added 16 IIT’s and 7 IIM’s in 5 years. PM Modi
further said his administration was not just focused on opening institutes of
higher education but also ensured autonomy of educational institutes.
