‘Black Mirror’ Season 6 is reportedly in the works at Netflix, and will be the latest instalment in the dystopian drama that took the world by storm when it first released in 2011.

While the first couple of seasons of ‘Black Mirror’ and a Christmas special episode aired on British television network Channel 4, the show subsequently moved to Netflix, which produced three seasons that aired in 2016, 2017, and 2017 respectively.

After the conclusion of Season 5 and the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic months later, ‘Black Mirror’ creator Charlie Brooker had himself thrown doubt on the show’s future, sparking speculation that it would see no new seasons.

“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those. I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh,” Brooker the Radio Times magazine during the peak of the pandemic in 2020.

However, ‘Black Mirror’ fans will be relieved to know that a new season is in the works, with Variety reporting that casting for the new season is underway.

With production yet to begin, the new season is at least a year away, but here’s everything we know about it so far.

Episodes:

While details of the episodes or what topics they will engage with are being kept strictly secret, Variety reported that Season 6 will have more episodes than Season 5, which had only three, namely, ‘Striking Vipers’, ‘Smithereens’, and ‘Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too’.

Production values:

Variety also reported citing sources that Season 6 will be much more cinematic in scope than any of the previous seasons, and that each episode is being treated like an individual film.

Release date:

No release date for Season 6 has been announced yet, and it could be a year or two before we see a new season of ‘Black Mirror’.
