Days after her engagement to Sam Asghari, American singer Britney Spears on Wednesday announced that she is a taking a break from social media. She made this announcement hours after deleting her Instagram account.

“Don’t worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement!!!! I’ll be back soon,” Britney Spears tweeted. Her Twitter account is operational at the time of publishing this story.

Britney’s social media followers were confused after her Instagram account disappeared on Tuesday.

“Britney Spears’ Instagram was randomly deleted. Her Insta has been a way to let fans know she’s okay so this could be a red flag. Her last post was her thanking the #FreeBritney movement,” a fan account tweeted.

Britney’s Instagram account has been in focus ever since she was placed under conservatorship in 2008. The agreement put her father, Jamie Spears, in charge of her finances, healthcare and other major decisions. The singer at several occasions described the conservatorship as “abusive”. Her father was removed from the role.

However, her fans believed that Britney sent secret messages through her Instagram account all through the conservatorship battle. Along with memes and photos of her children, the 39-year-old also shared cryptic posts.

Britney Spears, who was previously married to Jason Alexander (2004), fell love with Sam Asghari after meeting on the sets of the singer’s Slumber Party music video in 2016. Britney Spears was also married to dancer Kevin Federline. They divorced in 2007.
