Former Miss USA and ‘Extra’ correspondant Cheslie Kryst died allegedly after jumping from a New York City high-rise on Sunday. She was 30.

Her family, in a statement to the PEOPLE, said, “In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.”

“Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on Extra. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague – we know her impact will live on,” they added, further asking for privacy.

 As per a New York Post report, authorities said that Kryst jumped off a building at 350 W. 42nd Street, New York City around 7:15 AM local time. The ‘Extra’ correspondent reportedly lived on the ninth floor of the Orion building and was last seen on a 29th-floor terrace.

Entertainment website Extra offered its “deepest condolences to all her family and friends” in another statement obtained by PEOPLE on Sunday.

Kryst was an attorney by profession and was crowned Miss USA as Miss North Carolina in May 2019.
