Chris Rock’s latest stand-up special, Selective Outrage, is set to premiere this weekend, it will mark the first instance Rock has publicly spoken about the infamous Oscars slap since it happened nearly a year ago. Rock joked about having seen Will Smith’s movie Emancipation just to see the actor get “whipped,” according to the Huffington Post.

“The other day, I watched ‘Emancipation’ just so I could watch him getting whipped,” Rock reportedly said. However, that was not the only joke Rock had about the situation at a show at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore on February 17. The 2022 film sees Smith as a slave named Peter in Louisiana.

Rock has made light of the situation on the March 27, 2022 Oscars slap, but has yet to issue a formal statement. It’s been heavily rumored that he will save most of his thoughts for the upcoming special.

Rock also answered several questions about whether the slap hurt or not. The answer is yes, he said.

“The thing people wanna know … did it hurt? Hell yeah it hurt. He played Muhammad Ali! I played Pookie (in ‘New Jack City’). Even in animated movies, I’m a zebra, he’s a fucking shark. I got hit so hard, I heard ‘Summertime’ ringing in my ears,” Rock reportedly said.

He added, “Will Smith is a big dude. I am not. Will Smith is shirtless in his movies. If you see me in a movie getting open heart surgery, I’m gonna have a sweater on.”

Rock’s stand-up special will be broadcasted live from Baltimore’s Hippodrome Theatre on Saturday, March 4 on Netflix.

According to a Page Six report, Rock has been waiting to spill his humorous take on Will Smith’s Oscar slap, which was sparked by GI Jane 2 joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s Alopecia. However, Smith has since issued several apologies, Rock doesn’t appear quite ready to call a truce.
