Emmys 2021: Queens Gambit director Scott Franks long speech irked internet

Queen’s Gambit” director Scott Frank, who received the award for Outstanding Directing For A Limited Or Anthology Series or Movie for ‘Queen’s Gambit’ at Emmys 2021, is getting a lot of
heat from internet for his long speech. He spoke for about
two minutes, despite the music trying to play him off.

“I’m almost done,” he said about mid-way through his speech
over the exit music and continued speaking about the show’s star, 25-year-old
Anya Taylor-Joy, reports The New York Post.
“Really?” he said, looking annoyed, as the music played on.
Twitter was equally furious with Frank’s extended speech.
“This is what they show when you go over
45 seconds in your acceptance speech,” posted a user along with a photo from the telecast of a gigantic red and white “stop” sign that is placed in the auditorium to signal celebs when it’s time to wrap up their speeches.
“Scott Frank wins Emmy for directing limited series,
celebrates win with UNLIMITED SPEECH,” wrote another user.

One added, “I think the speech went longer than the entire
series. Play him off, keyboard cat.”
“I was a fan of “Queens Gambit” until Frank Scott
decided to monologue for what felt like an hour,” another tweeted.
“Scott Frank, speech was longer than the timeline of The
Queen’s Gambit,” one wrote.

Another fan scribed, “That Scott Frank d–che from Queen’s
Gambit just cost himself so many jobs with that performance. He showed everyone
who he is.”
