AfterGlow- The Final Bell, a virtual event featured the 17-person ensemble of the Netflix Dramedy (GLOW), announcing the cancellation of any new installation of the show due to COVID-19.

The event moderated by Glamour’s Jessica Radloff also aimed at promoting voter registration for the upcoming US elections.

GLOW, as an installation by the ‘Orange is the new black team’ is based in the 1980s with a Los Angeles backdrop. It features a few women finding their feet in wrestling. First released in 2017, the Netflix series has released 30 episodes over three seasons.

The last episode of GLOW  season three ‘A very GLOW Christmas’, left the fans on a cliff-hanger creating an expectation for another season this year. But the production had to call off the fourth season after filming two episodes as any physical contact in the wrestling based series amid the novel coronavirus outbreak didn’t make sense.

The creators has also announced this news earlier this week citing the production restrictions.

However, for the sake of the reunion, the cast came together virtually on a livestream to deliver the cancellation news and ask people to vote. The event was created in partnership with HeadCount and #GoodToVote ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

“Our show is, among many other things, about people who sometimes feel powerless do powerful things. And right now I think the most powerful thing you can do is vote,”  Betty Gilpin who plays Debbie said.

Leading actor Alison Brie added, “If you loved anything about this show and the way the women took control of their own destiny, you can do that too by voting.”

Marc Maron, Kate Nash, Britney Young, Rebekka Johnson, Shakira Barrera, Sunita Mani, Gayle Rankin, Marianna Palka, Ellen Wong, Britt Baron, Sydelle Noel, Kimmy Gatewood, Jackie Tohn, Kia Stevens and Chris Lowell also took part in the event.

During the conversation, the cast unanimously agreed to the idea of reuniting once more for a movie version of their show. They asked their fanbase to voice their opinions by joining the #SaveGLOW petition or by “going old school” and mailing the letters to Netflix.

“It would be a very exciting thing and it would seem like Netflix could do it if they wanted to do it,” said Maron, sharing his idea for a movie earlier this week on social media and tagging the show’s official Netflix account.

“It would probably solve the problem, it would be easier for them to do. Who the fuck knows what they’re going to do, but I think it’s a great idea and I hope people rally around it enough to raise the interest of the executives over there,” he added.

GLOW is one amongst the few series who will not go for another season owing to the economic, health-related and social affect of the pandemic in the entertainment industry.
