Singer-songwriter Britney Spears took to her Instagram to address the New York Times-produced ‘Framing Britney Spears’. She says she hasn’t watched the project in full but “from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in”.

“I didn’t watch the documentary but from what I did see of it I was embarrassed by the light they put me in,” the singer wrote alongside a video of her dancing on Tuesday.

“I cried for two weeks and well …. I still cry sometimes.” She posted.

“I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy … love … and happiness!!!! Every day dancing brings me joy !!! I’m not here to be perfect … perfect is boring … I’m here to pass on kindness,” her post further reads.

The documentary, which centers on the media’s historic treatment of Spears as well as her battle over her legal conservatorship, swiftly made an impact after it premiered on FX on February 5 and began streaming on Hulu, reports people.com.

With many female stars weighing in with their support for Spears, the documentary was tweeted about over a million times and, in its wake, Spears’ ex Justin Timberlake publicly apologized for his actions in the early 2000s after they broke up.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in February, documentary director Samantha Stark noted of the film, which Spears did not participate in.
