A powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti on Saturday, causing widespread destruction. Tremors were also felt in neighbouring countries including the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos Island. Local authorities confirmed deaths but did not reveal the toll. The U.S. Geological Survey issued a tsunami warning soon after the quake but soon lifted the warning.
