Is Sacha Baron Cohen joining MCU’s Ironheart?

English actor Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly been in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). There have been speculations that Cohen will be playing the role of the villainous Mephisto in the upcoming MCU TV series Ironheart.

Ironheart will be Marvel Studios’ eleventh TV series that is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in late 2023 as part of Phase 5 of MCU. The series, consisting of six episodes, wrapped its filming recently in Atlanta and is scheduled to move to Chicago in the upcoming days.

Rumors of the introduction of Mephisto in the MCU were widespread since the beginning of Phase 4, with people speculating about the character’s arrival in almost every film. With Phase 4 nearing its end, fans are now wondering if Mephisto’s character will finally be a part of the film franchise.

The rumor of Cohen’s likely involvement in the MCU spread on social media the past weekend when several comic-focused Twitter accounts reported the rumor of Cohen’s casting.

According to Deadline, a source close to the production house has confirmed that the character will indeed be part of the upcoming TV series, with actor Sacha Baron Cohen reportedly playing the role. Cohen was also spotted at the Marvel facilities at England’s Pinewood Studios. However, Cohen’s representatives and Marvel Studios have refused to comment on the speculations.

The series, created by Chinaka Hodge, stars Dominique Thorne in the lead role of Riri Williams/Ironheart.  Anthony Ramos stars as Parker Robbins, an ally of Riri Williams. Jim Rash, Lyric Ross, Manny Montana, and Shea Coulee are also part of the cast.
