Production of Universals ‘Jurassic Park: Dominion’ shut down after several people involved in the production tested positive for coronavirus, reported Hollywood Reporter.
In a statement, a Universal spokesperson told Hollywood Reporter, “Late last night, we were informed that the Jurassic World: Dominion production experienced a small amount of positive tests for COVID-19.”
He added, “Even though subsequent tests proved negative this morning, due to our rigid protocols and to ensure that the safety and well-being of our entire cast and crew is paramount at all times, those who initially tested positive are currently self-isolating, as are those who they have come into contact with. As a result filming has been temporarily paused and will resume in accordance with established safety guidelines.”
Dominion has three more weeks of production left after having to shut down once in March due to the pandemic. Production had resumed in July 6, along with safety protocols in place that included the cast and crew staying together in a hotel bought out by Universal in order to create a bio-bubble, along with coronavirus testing three times a week for cast and crew.
The news comes a day after the realease date of the film was delayed by a year to June 10, 2022 due to restriction in theatrical releases.
Dominion stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum along with Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, Daniella Pineda, Campbell Scott, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith, Omar Sy, DeWanda Wise and BD Wong. Director Colin Trevorrow is in charge of the film along with Emily Carmichael on scripting duty.
