Late actor Naya Rivera raised her hand, called for help while drowning: Autopsy report

Late ‘Glee’ star Naya Rivera, who died July 8, had raised her arm calling for help as she drowned in a California Lake, according to an autopsy report released on Friday, news agency AP reported.

The actor was boating with her four-year-old son Josey at Lake Piru in the northwestern side of Los Angeles, when she met with the fateful accident. He had “noticed the decedent put her arm up in the air and yelled ‘help,’” AP said, citing a report from the Ventura County Medical Examiner. 

“The decedent then disappeared in to the water,” the report added.

According to previous reports by authorities, Rivera had put Josey Hollis Dorsey back in the boat before she drowned, but her cry for help was not mentioned.

Josey was found sleeping in the boat alone later on July 8.

The actor “knew how to swim well”, the report mentioned.

The report revealed that the 33-year-old had problems of vertigo earlier, and had developed a recent sinus infection. It also found a small amount of prescribed amphetamines in her in her body. However, these have not been considered factors in her death. 

Rivera’s body was recovered five days after she was reported missing. It was floating in a part of the lake. Officials estimated that she was stuck in thick vegetation before being recovered.
