“May the Fourth be with you”: Star Wars Day, meaning and significance

May 4 has a special significance for Star Wars fans around the world every year. It is the day Star Wars, its movies, video games, comics, and everything associated with the science fiction universe created in 1977 by filmmaker George Lucas is celebrated. It is the Star Wars Day.

The reason Star Wars Day is celebrated on May 4 is that it resembles one of the most iconic lines from the film and in Hollywood, “May the Force be with you”, which is changed to “May the Fourth be with you”, every year on this day. In Star Wars, the Force is the mighty power that flows through everybody which can be controlled by Jedi, the good guys, and SIth, the bad guys, to do things like telekinesis and shoot lightning from their hands.

The first Star Wars movie was released in 1977, and eight more movies have come out since, where dozens of planets are visited with hundreds of curious-looking aliens, robots and other beings are seen. And they possess lightsaber-yielding Jedi knights to fight against evil Sith lords to protect the galaxy from the bad.
