‘No words’: Rachel Brosnahan voice stark criticisms against Highland Park shooting

Following the Highland Park shooting that shocked everyone during America’s Fourth of July celebration, actress Rachel Brosnahan has come out expressing her distress over the incident.

Six people were gunned down and at least 24 were injured when a gunman opened fire on an Independence Day parade in Highland Park. According to authorities, children were present among the wounded who were treated later, some of whom are in critical condition.

Known widely for her work in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Manhattan and House of Cards, Brosnahan shared a tweet saying she was ‘sick’ of the horrific incident. The 31-year-old also revealed that she was raised in Highland Park and the Fourth of July parade remains as a highlight for many families residing there.

“I grew up in Highland Park and this parade is a highlight of the year for so many families,” she tweeted. 

“I’m sick to my stomach every time news like this comes out, but I don’t wish the pit in your stomach as you call your family and friends to make sure everyone is okay on anyone. No words,” Brosnahan added.

The actress shared a link to Everytown for Gun Safety in her following tweet.

The police launched a manhunt following the grim incident and arrested Robert Crimo, 22, in relation to the case after a car chase. According to a report by the Gun Violence Archive, upto 40,000 gun violence related deaths take place in the US every year.

Along with Rachel Brosnahan, Hollywood actor & director Ken Olin also took to Twitter to speak about the Highland Park shooting.

“My hometown. I went to this parade every year as a little boy,” the 67-year-old wrote. “My heart breaks for all the children in our country who will grow up afraid of celebrating with a mass of happy people,” he added.

US President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris along with several government officials, celebrities and others have voiced their support for the victims of the Highland Park shooting till now.
