Pepé Le Pew, a Warner Bros. animated character who was first introduced in 1945, has not been cast in any of the ongoing or upcoming projects with no solid plans of its returns, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The reports came through just days after the initial reports of the animated skunk getting left out of the upcoming animated-reality flick starring James LeBron, ‘Space Jam 2’.

The deductions are likely made after a New York Times opinion piece stated that the animated character has played a part in “normalising rape culture”.

Pepé Le Pew, who has been brought to life using the voice of highly celebrated actor Mel Blanc, is a black coloured skunk who was known to constantly chasing after affection and often made unwanted advances.

John Oliver, a British comedian and actor who hosts a famous talk show, on Sunday called out the reactions of conservative media coverage over the issue and stated, “These books portray people in ways that are hurtful and wrong. Ceasing sales of these books is only part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises’ catalog represents and supports all communities and families.”

Meanwhile, host of ‘Reading Rainbow’ and ‘Star Trek’ franchise fame LeVar Burton stated that the decisions had nothing to with “cancel culture” but was instead a sign of growth, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Burton said, “In the general sense, once you know better, it is incumbent on you to do better. And I think that is exactly what Seuss Enterprises is doing here. They are being a responsible steward of the brand.”
