Cheslie Kryst, former Miss USA and ‘Extra’ correspondent, died after allegedly jumping from a New York City high-rise on Sunday. She was 30.

As per a New York Post report, authorities said that Kryst jumped off a building at 350 W. 42nd Street, New York City around 7:15 AM local time.

Her latest Instagram post, hours before the reported time of her death, read, “May this day bring you rest and peace.”

Tributes started pouring in almost immediately on the heartbreaking social media upload.

Kryst’s family, in a statement to the PEOPLE, said, “In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.”

“Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on Extra. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague – we know her impact will live on,” they added, further asking for privacy.

The ‘Extra’ correspondent reportedly lived on the ninth floor of the Orion building and was last seen on a 29th-floor terrace.

Kryst was an attorney by profession and was crowned Miss USA as Miss North Carolina in May 2019. In an essay in Allure about turning 30 last year, she had written, “Turning 30 feels like a cold reminder that I’m running out of time to matter in society’s eyes – and it’s infuriating.”
