The fate of The Flash movie is hanging in the balance post multiple lawsuits being filed against its star, Ezra Miller. The actor has been accused of grooming a minor, throwing a chair at a woman, sexual assault, and even felony burglary. They are also facing charges in Hawaii, Massachusetts, and North Dakota. Miller has now apologized for their behaviour, and has stated that they will be seeking professional help to deal with mental health issues.

Variety has received a statement from one of Miller’s representatives regarding the ongoing issues. In the statement, the actor said, “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment”. The non-binary 29-year-old actor has played The Flash in two DCEU movies till date- Justice League (2017) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2019).

Concerns have surfaced regarding the theatrical release of The Flash’s solo movie after reports of Miller’s erratic behaviour came to light, especially after the production house cancelling the release of Batgirl. However, Variety has spoken to an insider at Warner Brothers Discovery who said that the release can go on as planned if Miller seeks help and does an interview where he speaks about the reasons for his erratic behaviour. He can then do a limited promotional tour, post which the film can hit the screens.

The Ezra Miller problem has to be handled with care by Warner Brothers Discovery since he is a part of the company’s two most lucrative franchises- the DCEU and the Fantastic Beasts series.

The Flash movie was planned way back in 2014, but was stuck in development hell until Andy Muschietti, the director of It, decided to helm the project. The film is also set to star Michael Keaton (who was also set to be a part of Batgirl before it was shelved) and Ben Affleck as Batman from two different universes.
