The gravelly-voiced former frontman of The Pogues, Shane MacGowan, who was credited for combining punk rock and traditional Irish folk music, has died at the age of 65. In a statement, his wife Victoria Clarke formally acknowledged his death on November 30. 

His wife, Victoria Clarke, in an Instagram post, said, “I don’t know how to say this so I am just going to say it. Shane… has gone to be with Jesus and Mary and his beautiful mother Therese.”
