Hollywood actor Tom Holland was convinced that the Marvel Studios was going to fire him after he debuted as Spider-Man with the superhit film ‘Captain America: Civil War’. However, he reprised the role four more times since then.
In an interview with Variety, Tom shared his initial experience at the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The actor recalled his audition process, which included separate test screenings with Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans. Tom said that even after finishing the shooting for ‘Civil War’, he had a nagging feeling that he will lose his MCU gig. However, he later clarified that there was nor reason for him to think that.

Tom was having a candid conversation with fellow MCU actor Daniel Kaluuya on Variety’s Actors on Actors.
“From the moment of shooting ‘Civil War’ to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ I was convinced they were going to fire me. I don’t know why. ‘Civil War’ hadn’t come out yet, and I just didn’t hear anything from anyone. I can’t really explain it. It was awful, but they didn’t — obviously. It’s been crazy, mate. I’ve loved every minute of it,” the ‘Spider-Man’ fame said.
According to Tom, the self-doubt emerged because of the Marvel Studio’s tendencies to keep their decisions in the dark, even from its actors.
“It’s weird. The audition process was horrible. It was seven months of auditioning. I must’ve done six auditions, and they don’t tell you anything,” Tom added.
The 24-year-old actor is set to star in a third ‘Spider-Man’ movie directed by Jon Watts.
