Telugu film producer Pokuri Rama Rao, 65, dies of COVID-19

Telugu film producer Pokuri Rama Rao died on Friday in Hyderabad 

due to COVID-19. The 65-year-old was best known for his films, ‘Ranam’ and ‘Yagnam’. According to a report by 123 Telugu, Rama Rao was admitted to a private hospital after testing positive for Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment while on a ventilator when he died.

According to the same report, Rama Rao had undergone a cardiac-surgery due to heart-related ailments ten months ago. A Times of India report suggests that Rama Rao had died due to a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad. His family is yet to officially confirm the cause of his death. Brother of popular producer Pokuri Babu Rao, Rama Rao was known for his frequent collaborations with actor Gopichand. Both Babu and Rama Rao produced films under the banner Eetharam Films.

 Earlier this week, popular Telegu Television actor Navya Swamy had to stop shooting immediately after testing COVID-19 positive. “Last night, I cried a lot while going home and even until early in the morning. I couldn’t sleep. My mom is still crying. My phone was busy; I was talking to a lot of people. My WhatsApp was flooded with messages about the symptoms, treatment, and much more. It was chaotic. I was even feeling guilty that I put my co-stars and crew in trouble, too,” Navya told TOI.
