Vir Das tests positive for COVID, reschedules comedy shows in Gujarat

Indian-origin comedian Vir Das announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and will be rescheduling his Gujarat shows. The 43-year-old made the announcement on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon.
Vir Das said that he had taken a rapid COVID-19 test, which said that he had been infected with the virus. The actor-comedian also posted a picture of the test result. He will now be taking an RT-PCR test.

“I am super sad about this, but I hope to see you real soon. I hope you will come back on the new dates”, Vir Das said referring to his shows in Gujarat. The ‘Go Goa Gone’ star added that he “woke up showing symptoms.”
Vir Das had five back-to-back shows planned in his ongoing ‘Wanted- World Tour’ stand-up comedy series. The original schedule for the Gujarat leg was:
June 15- Vapi
June 16- Surat
June 17- Vadodra
June 18- Ahmedabad
June 19- Rajkot
What about the new schedule?
Vir Das’ announcement did not clarify the new schedule for the Gujarat shows. He did, however, say that his “team is currently working on new dates.”
“We are gonna try and come back in a few weeks whenever the venues are available. Your tickets will be refunded if you would like”, he wrote. “I hope you will come back on the new dates.”

Soon after the Indian leg concluded, comedian Vir Das was scheduled to tour internationally. His website says that shows were scheduled till early December 2022. He was performing in the United States, Scotland, England, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
This is the second time comedian Vir Das has tested positive for COVID-19 this year. He reportedly did not have to reschedule or cancel any shows after contracting the virus in January this year.
